NEC FC has announced a major change in its coaching staff, parting ways with head coach Hussein Mbalangu and appointing Kaddu Badru Mukasa as his replacement.
The club confirmed on Wednesday via its official social media channels that Mbalangu had been released by mutual agreement.
“We announce today that a decision has been made to mutually terminate our contract with Head Coach Hussein Mbalangu, effective immediately,” the club stated.
“In a joint agreement, the club has unconditionally relieved and released Coach Mbalangu from all obligations associated with his role as Head Coach. Both parties have confirmed that no further liabilities or obligations will exist between them, allowing Coach Mbalangu the freedom to join any club of his choice,” the statement added.
Hours after Mbalangu’s departure, NEC announced Kaddu Badru Mukasa as head coach, effective today Thursday, November 6, 2025.
“We’re delighted to announce that Kaddu Badru Mukasa is joining the club as our head coach,” NEC stated.
“KB, who will be leaving Express FC, brings a wealth of experience, tactical acumen, and a proven winning mentality to our club.”
Earlier, on 20th October, NEC suspended Mbalangu for two months following his involvement in the Masaza Cup tournament. During the suspension, his assistant James Odoch served as interim head coach.
The club expressed gratitude for Mbalangu’s contributions.
“We extend our gratitude to Coach Mbalangu for his invaluable contributions to the team and wish him the very best in his future endeavors,” NEC said.
Sources indicate that the club’s poor performance in the Uganda Premier League, coupled with Mbalangu’s involvement in the Masaza Cup — where the Ssaza club he assisted, Ssingo, lost 1-0 in the finals to Buweekula — influenced the decision.
Mbalangu had joined NEC in their debut season in the Uganda Premier League, guiding the team to a second-place finish last season and taking them to the Uganda Cup final in his first campaign.
