PostBank Uganda’s Chief Financial Officer, Peter Ssenyange, has emerged as a top winner at the 9th Annual Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Awards, securing two prestigious accolades — CFO of the Year and the Sustainability Award.
The ceremony, held under the theme “CFO Vision: Creating Impact and Legacy,” recognized exceptional leadership in the finance sector.
The CFO Awards, jointly organized by Deloitte Uganda and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Uganda, celebrate financial leaders who are driving strategic growth, sustainability, and financial stewardship within their organizations.
“This win is a culmination of a great team at the Bank, support from management, and the strategic plans laid forth to create sustainable impact for our staff, customers, and shareholders,” Ssenyange said while receiving the awards.
Over his five-year tenure, Ssenyange has played a pivotal role in transforming PostBank’s financial performance.
Under his stewardship, the bank — currently rebranding to Pearl Bank — recorded a 20 percent increase in income, reaching shs248 billion in 2024. Customer deposits grew by 25 percent to shs990 billion, while the loan book rose by 19 percent to shs 719 billion.
The awards also spotlighted the bank’s achievement of a Sustainability Certification in Germany, reflecting its commitment to embedding sustainability into its operations — a key pillar in its five-year strategic plan.
Patrick Ayota, Managing Director of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and keynote speaker at the event, underscored the growing importance of finance leaders in creating organizational impact beyond the numbers.
“When you become a good CFO, it is beyond numbers. You should create impact, because numbers are what you are paid for, but your legacy is what truly matters,” he noted.
The event’s Chief Guest, Assistant Auditor General James Bantu, lauded Deloitte and ACCA Uganda for their continued efforts to elevate financial leadership.
He noted that over the past eight editions, 45 CFOs have been honoured and 65 awards presented across nine categories — a testament to the growing recognition of financial leadership as a cornerstone of institutional success.
Ssenyange’s dual win cements his status as one of Uganda’s leading finance professionals and marks a significant milestone in PostBank’s journey toward sustainability and impactful financial leadership.
