Security operatives on Thursday arrested 38 people at Budaka District Headquarters for allegedly presenting forged academic documents during the ongoing Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) recruitment in the Bukedi region.
The operation, led by Brig Gen Michael Ssozi Ssesanga, caught the suspects as they attempted to pass off fake credentials.
Brig Gen Ssesanga, who is overseeing the exercise, warned that the army will not tolerate any form of fraud.
He urged applicants to present only genuine academic papers, noting that the recruitment is progressing smoothly.
“Anyone attempting to cheat the system will face arrest,” he cautioned.
The commander also applauded local leaders for their cooperation in maintaining transparency and order throughout the process.
