Music, fashion and campus entertainment took centre stage at Muteesa I Royal University on Friday, October 16, as Club Pilsener brought its Club Canvas Campus Takeover to the university’s Freshers’ Ball at the main Kakeeka Mengo Campus in Kampala.
The event welcomed first-year students joining the university for the 2026/2027 academic year, bringing together live performances, DJ sessions and a fresher pageant in an evening that ran until midnight.
The entertainment lineup featured VIP Jemo, John Blaq and Anknown, alongside Splash Kachupa and Mimi Kampala. The performers kept students engaged throughout the event, with a mix of live music and campus entertainment that complemented the Freshers’ Ball celebrations.
DJ TUS, associated with Fundas Promotions, provided music between performances, while Sir Jace MC hosted the programme and guided the audience through the evening’s activities.

Beyond the musical performances, fashion and personal expression featured prominently in the Mr. and Mrs. Fresher competition. First-year students took to the stage to showcase their style, confidence and personality as they competed for the titles, adding a pageantry element to the celebrations.
For Club Pilsener, the event offered another opportunity to bring the Club Canvas platform into a university setting, combining entertainment and creative expression with an occasion that marks an important transition for new students.
The Muteesa I Royal University Freshers’ Ball was the latest stop on the Club Canvas Campus Takeover series, following earlier events at Garden Courts Hostel in Makerere, Bavana Hostel in Kyambogo on September 25, and Fundas Grounds opposite Akamwesi Hostel at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) on October 9.
Each event has taken the platform to a different student community, with the Muteesa I Royal University edition incorporating the traditional Freshers’ Ball format and its focus on welcoming new students into university life.

The event also attracted attention on social media, with student recaps, dance videos and campus reels capturing moments from the celebrations. The posts extended the event’s reach beyond the university grounds, allowing students to share their experiences with a wider audience.
The evening culminated in the crowning of Mr. Fresher 2026 and Mrs. Fresher 2026, marking a highlight of the Freshers’ Ball and giving the incoming cohort representatives for the academic year.
Through the Campus Takeover series, Club Canvas continues to position music, fashion and live entertainment within student-focused events, with the Muteesa I Royal University Freshers’ Ball adding another chapter to the platform’s campus activities.
