KCB Bank Uganda, in partnership with the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), has flagged off Ugandan rally driver Oscar Ntambi and co-driver Asuman Muhammed ahead of the 2026 World Rally Championship Safari Rally in Naivasha, Kenya.
The ceremony, held at the FMU headquarters in Lugogo, also introduced fellow Ugandan drivers Duncan Mubiru, Yasin Nasser and Timothy Gawaya, underscoring Uganda’s expanded representation at the global motorsport event scheduled for March 12–15, 2026.
The flag-off follows KCB Bank’s sponsorship announcement backing Ntambi’s participation in the championship. KCB Group has committed up to KShs 227 million towards motorsport development in the region, funding aimed at strengthening team performance and equipping drivers with the resources required to compete at the highest level.
FMU further pledged UGX 40 million to facilitate travel, accommodation and logistical arrangements for the Ugandan team.
Speaking at the event, Zainab Kalyowa, Brand Experience Manager at KCB Bank Uganda, said the sponsorship reflects the bank’s commitment to nurturing sporting excellence.
“Today marks a significant milestone for Uganda’s motorsport fraternity. We are proud to support competitors representing Africa on the global stage. Ntambi’s journey from national champion to WRC contender reflects our commitment to investing in communities and supporting excellence,” she said.
Ntambi Eyes Strong Debut
Ntambi, a former National Rally Champion, will compete in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Ralliart as he makes his debut at the WRC Safari Rally.
“I am grateful to KCB Bank for supporting my journey to the WRC. This is an opportunity to represent Uganda on the world stage, and I am ready to give my best in Naivasha,” Ntambi said.
The acting FMU President called on Ugandans to rally behind the drivers, urging fans to show support as the team competes against some of the world’s top rally drivers, including Sébastien Ogier and Thierry Neuville.
Rally Schedule
The four-day rally will cover a competitive distance of 350.02 kilometres and a liaison distance of 842.9 kilometres in compliance with FIA regulations.
