Government has confirmed that there will be no physical ticket sales for the upcoming CHAN 2025 matches scheduled to take place at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
Addressing the media ahead of the tournament kickoff, Dr. Dennis Mugimba, Chairperson of the Communications and Signage Sub-Committee, clarified that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has opted for a fully digital ticketing system across all host countries—Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
“All ticket sales are only digital as of now. CAF has provided two options: use the internet link or scan a barcode using your phone, both directing you to the CAF ticketing portal,” Dr. Mugimba stated.
To purchase tickets for matches in Uganda, book through the option for “Book now” under Uganda. Once you have opened the option to book tickets for matches in Uganda, you shall be taken to a page which displays the match fixtures at Namboole.”
He said as of today, Wednesday, only the purchase of tickets for matches of the Group stage fixtures are available for sale with two matches scheduled for each day between August, 4, 8, 11 and 15.
He added that on 18, August 2025, there shall be only one group match for South Africa vs. Uganda.
“ When you buy a ticket, for a Group stage match, it allows you to watch all the matches of that day while in the stadium. In other words, if you enter the stadium to watch a match scheduled for 5 p.m., you are allowed to use the same ticket to remain in your seat and watch the next match that starts at 8 p.m. If there are two matches in a day, you do not need to buy two tickets; one ticket is enough to permit you to watch both matches.”
He minister however warned that once one’s ticket has been scanned and they are allowed to enter the stadium to watch the first match of the day, if they exit the stadium’s gates, they cannot enter again to watch the second match of the day using the ticket that had earlier been scanned.
Ticket categories and prices:
Ordinary: UGX 10,000 per day
Silver: UGX 30,000 per day
Premium: UGX 50,000 per day
Dr. Mugimba urged fans to prepare accordingly and emphasized that the shift to digital ticketing is part of efforts to modernize event management and reduce security risks.
