Newly sworn-in Kampala Lord Mayor Ronald Balimwezo Nsubuga has pledged to prioritise service, accountability, and unity in leading the capital city over the next five years.
Balimwezo made the remarks shortly after taking the oath of office on Wednesday at City Hall in Kampala, where he was sworn in alongside 34 councillors.
The oath was administered by Ritah Neumbe Kidasa.
“Service above self — I chose to sacrifice personal comfort to serve Kampala. With God’s guidance and the people’s trust, we shall transform our city through accountability, proper planning, and unity,” Balimwezo said after the swearing-in ceremony.
He added that Kampala deserves transparent leadership, quality education, improved healthcare services, and better urban planning for all residents.
Balimwezo’s swearing-in officially marks the end of Erias Lukwago’s 15-year tenure as Kampala Lord Mayor.
The new Lord Mayor was escorted to City Hall by Joel Ssenyonyi, who also serves as spokesperson for the National Unity Platform (NUP).
