MultiChoice Uganda has walked away with three major honours at the 9th Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) Excellence Awards, including the prestigious Best Event and Experiential Campaign for its MultiChoice at 30 celebration. The awards ceremony took place at Protea Hotel in Kampala.
The 2024 PRAU Awards, held under the theme “Recognizing Innovation and Impact in Public Relations,” attracted communication professionals, corporate executives, government officials, media practitioners and experts in marketing and advertising—reflecting the growing influence of strategic communication in shaping national narratives.
MultiChoice Uganda’s standout win was anchored in the compelling storytelling behind its 30-year journey in Uganda’s entertainment sector.
The MultiChoice at 30 event was applauded for its seamless blend of brand history, customer appreciation and forward-looking messaging, effectively highlighting the company’s legacy and continued commitment to serving audiences.
The team also earned two runner-up positions in the Best Internal Communications Campaign and Best CSR and ESG Campaign categories, further cementing its impact across multiple communication fronts.
Rinaldi Jamugisa, the PR and Communications Manager at MultiChoice Uganda, said the recognition highlights the organisation’s dedication to excellence.
“This recognition means a lot to us because it affirms the hard work the team has put in throughout the year. Every campaign demanded precision, creativity and focus, and seeing it pay off builds us for even more challenges. We remain committed to supporting and training local storytellers and giving our audiences experiences that add value to their everyday lives.”
Jamugisa urged young communication professionals to remain disciplined and innovative.
“Great ideas grow when you keep sharpening them. Progress comes from showing up and choosing to go again even when the path feels steep.”
PRAU President Irene Nakasiita commended the winners for pushing the boundaries of professional communication.
“This year’s winners delivered concepts that pushed communication practice forward. We are celebrating innovators who have redefined what is possible in our profession.”
The Chargé d’Affaires at the South African High Commission, Solly Sebola, who officiated as Chief Guest, praised PRAU for championing excellence and encouraged deeper collaboration to promote visibility for both nations through public relations.
This year’s PRAU Excellence Awards recognised 13 outstanding individuals and organisations across fields such as digital communication, media relations, corporate communication, CSR and crisis communication.
A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Ms. Sarah Kagingo for her long-standing contribution to the development of public relations in Uganda.
