Five suspects have been arrested following a foiled robbery attempt at a rented warehouse facility belonging to the National Medical Stores (NMS) in Entebbe.
The incident occurred on Saturday night and was swiftly detected by NMS security teams working jointly with the Special Forces Command (SFC) and the Uganda Police Force. The coordinated operation prevented the loss of any medical supplies.
Confirming the development, Sheilla Nduhukire, the Principal Public Relations Officer at NMS, said the suspects were intercepted before any medical supplies could be stolen.
“Uganda National Medical Stores can confirm an attempted robbery at one of our rented warehouse facilities in Entebbe last night. Our security teams, working jointly with the Special Forces Command and the Uganda Police Force, swiftly detected and successfully foiled the attempt,” Nduhukire said.
She noted that security personnel recovered the medical supplies at the scene and immediately secured the area to facilitate investigations.
“There was no loss of medical supplies as the suspects were intercepted with the supplies on site. Two suspects sustained injuries during the operation and are recovering in hospital, while three others were arrested and remain in custody,” she added.
According to Nduhukire, operations at NMS have not been disrupted by the incident.
“Operations at NMS remain uninterrupted. We continue to cooperate fully with the relevant authorities and remain committed to safeguarding our personnel, assets, and the integrity of the national medicines supply chain,” she said.
NMS also commended the security agencies for their swift and coordinated response, adding that further updates will be communicated as investigations continue.
